#346 Last Episode of 2019

3 Jan , 2020   Video

In this, the final episode of 2019, we discuss:

1) The environmental impact of our instant gratification economy. Is it better or worse when we can order almost any amount of almost anything online and have it delivered to our house?

2) The US House passed a new spending bill that extends credits for EV chargers, motorcycles, and fuel cells but fails to extend credits for EV cars. Also, coal plants owned by Native Americans are subsidized.

3) The E-RV is a pretty awesome 5th Wheel camper that has a huge battery for full off-the-grid living. The battery can be recharged by plugging in, solar on the roof, and/or regeneration while being towed.

4) Portland, Oregon, is really stepping up their mass transit game by implementing impressive measures with their Trimet system. From green buses to renewable diesel and free rides for minors, this is mass transit done right.

Lexus 250UXh Hybrid Crossover

30 Nov , 2019   Video

Lexus has borrowed the TNGA architecture from Toyota along with their hybrid synergy drive to create a crossover hybrid. It’s essentially the same vehicle as the Corolla Hatchback and the CH-R but with more Lexus stuff. If you want a CH-R, love buttons and knobs, and have about $10,000 you want to throw away, consider the UXh.

#343: Selling Out of EVs that Nobody Wants

30 Nov , 2019   Video

1) At the LA Auto Show, a Toyota spokesman told a roomful of reporters that there is no demand for EVs. This certainly clears things up in terms of Tesla, the Leaf, Volt/Bolt, Rivian, etc.

2) Ford has reported that the 2021 Mustang Mack E is already sold out.

3) It’s our turn to provide our impression of the Tesla Cybertruck.

#341: Special Guest: Asaf Ashkenazi of Verimatrix

15 Nov , 2019   Video

Asaf Ashkenazi is the Chief Strategy Officer of Verimatrix. He joins us this week to discuss cybersecurity in vehicles and how Verimatrix works with OEM manufacturers to increase the security of their software.
It’s an enlightening – and sometimes a little scary – discussion about software vulnerabilities and how hackers work to exploit them. It’s always good to know there are people working to keep our connected devices safe.

#340 Aptera CEO, Chris Anthony

10 Nov , 2019   Video

Chris Anthony of Aptera joins us for the full hour. Chris was part of Aptera generation 1, left the company, and is back to get generation 2 off the ground.

It’s not a stretch to say that even though we really want all EV manufacturers to succeed, we’ve been skeptical of Aptera. Chris is a real trooper to come on the show and answer our questions. He really knows his stuff and presents a strong case for seriously checking out Aptera. In the 10 years since the first iteration, there have been a lot of improvements and inventions that provide opportunities not previously available.

Listen for yourself and decide whether you would be interested in an Aptera.
