What Drives Us for April 16, 2010

A special "on-the-road" episode.  Danny is in San Diego attending Toyota's Sustainable Mobility Confere where he's a chance to drive not only the prototype Prius PHV but also the Highlander FCV.  Russell grills Danny on his experience and what he's learned about the Prius PHV (as well as the Highlander).  

This week on What Drives Us, Russell and Danny are joined by Tony Schaefer and discuss a wide range of topics includiing, the debut of the Chevrolt Cruze ECO, the Lincoln MKZ hybrid, a Renault-Daimler alliance which may or may not lead to hybrids and EVs, the Prius is the number on selling car in Japan and much more.

This week Danny and Russell are on their own. Together they discuss; Mazda licensing HSD technology, Hyundai announces the Sonata hybrid, Nissan Leaf pricing, Microsoft Hohm and Ford Sync technology integrated with vehicles, the ugly 2010 Prius dash display, the VW Touareg hybrid versus the Porsche Cayenne hybrid, the feds announce they're buying 5,600 hybrids, the sad state of automotive journalism and Toyota bounces back.

This week Danny and Russell welcome back Evan Fusco and Tony Schaefer. They discuss a wide range of news topics from three new Porsche hybrids (one of which goes 98MPH in EV mode) to pay in American factories.
